GPS For Sunglasses

Never Lose Your Glasses Again With A GPS Tracker?

sunglassesIf there is one thing everyone has in common it is that at some point we had a pair of sunglasses, and at another point we lost those shades. Nothing is more annoying than losing your sunglasses within days or even a month of purchasing them. True that it may be that most average people are not investing hundreds of dollars into Christian Dior or Gucci sunglasses, it is not uncommon for people to spend upwards of $150.00 on a stylish pair of shades. With so many people losing expensive glasses every single day, some people have asked why a GPS tracking unit couldn’t be created to help people who lose their shades.

GPS trackers are great technological tools that can help someone locate a stolen car, elderly person if they wander or business route service vehicles. However, a few problems make the application of GPS tracking sunglasses an unrealistic option. First of all, if a GPS tracker were connected to a pair of sunglasses it would be very obvious, and the shades would likely not be able to be worn while equipped with a tracker. Nobody is going to be walking around with a giant GPS tracker device connected to his or her sunglasses.

The next problem with monitoring a pair of sunglasses in case they were ever stolen or lost would be cost. GPS tracking automobiles, boats and other expensive machinery makes sense because the cost of the tracking system justifies the potential cost if a car or forklift is ever stolen. However, with the cost of a real-time tracking device such as the SilverCloud tracker costing nearly $300.00 with monthly monitoring fees, it wouldn’t make sense to protect the sunglasses with a GPS tracker. It would be like paying $20.00 a month for insuring a set of red plastic disposable cups.

The best way to protect your sunglasses is to put them in a case, pocket or purse, and if you plan on investing in a very costly pair of designer sunglasses then pay attention to wear you leave them. Also, if you are one of those people who are constantly prone to losing glasses then don’t invest in a pair that is out of your budget because GPS tracking technology is likely never going to help you recover them!
