Should Sex Offenders Face Harsher Sentences?
Regardless of your ethnic background, religious beliefs or political affiliations, we can all agree that there are very few things as disgusting and sickening as child predators. The creeps who prey on innocent children have long been the topic of discussion among people with children. The debate on what more should be done in order to rid the world of child predators has surfaced again recently with the Penn State and Syracuse University scandals that have both sent shock waves throughout the news. Currently, convicted sex offenders typically face jail time, and have to register as sex offenders once released. There are also multiple online resources that allow anyone to see if a person convicted of a sex crime resides in their neighborhood, but is that really enough to contain or minimize the problem?
People convicted of sexual molestation and other sex crimes often receive weak prison sentences, completely not representative of the vile crimes they commit.
