Los Angeles Makes Aggressive Trade
After a slow start to the season that was jump started by the emergence of rookie sensation Mike Trout, the Los Angeles Angels find themselves right in the hunt for October. Already leading the American League Wild Card position, the Angels understand that the best route to a World Series is through a divisional win not wild card entry. In a one game playoff anything can happen so the goal has to be to win the American League West. The only problem is that the team ahead of the halos has been one of the best in baseball not only this year but also the past two seasons. However, that did little from stopping the Angels from getting aggressive right before the trade deadline to make one final push toward a division title.
With the Angels playing terrific baseball and the Texas Rangers faltering slightly, a once massive divisional lead by Texas shrank to a point where it was more than reasonable for the Angels to catch up before game 162. After already making the biggest splash during free agency, the Angels once again made the big deal by acquiring a Cy Young award winner in Zack Greinke from the Milwaukee Brewers for some minor league talent. With a rotation already guided by two All-Stars in Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson, the Angels have what looks like the most lethal starting pitching staff of any team in the American League!

Crimes Justify Indefinite Death Penalty
It is amazing how quickly things can change. Joe Paterno was the face of Penn State, the face of college football and a pillar of morality. He was the winningest coach in college football history who deservedly had a statue resurrected in his honor in front of his beloved Beaver Stadium. Everybody loved the soft spoken coach who would speak of honor and integrity, doing things the right way. Unfortunately, when presented with shocking allegations regarding one of his coaches, one of his dear friends, Paterno's indecision created a ripple effect that nobody could have ever imagined. By essentially choosing to remain silent, Paterno would end up crippling his beloved football program worse than anyone could have ever imagined, while also severely tarnishing his legacy. This was made abundantly clear early this morning when the NCAA kicked Penn State square in the nuts.
The NCAA announced in a press conference that they would be vacating over 100 Penn State victories, resulting in Coach Paterno no longer being the winningest head coach, banning the team from postseason play for the next four years, greatly reducing collegiate scholarships and fining the school $60 million dollars. The university has also made changes by firing many administrators and removing the statue that so many people in happy valley once adored. Although no college has been bitch slapped this hard since SMU was busted paying student athletes, the penalty does not justify the crime.
That is because the penalty should have been much worse.

Rookie Sensation Doing Amazing Things In Anaheim
The Los Angeles Angels began the 2012 season with something that the organization had never really had to deal with before: the expectation and pressure to win a championship now. When team owner Arte Moreno began spending his money like a drunken sailor during the off-season the team ended up signing the two biggest free agents the market had to offer in pitcher C.J. Wilson and slugger Albert Pujols. The Angels made it clear during the off season that had every intention of winning a championship immediately. Unfortunately, the team came out of the gates struggling on offense, as Pujols batted under .200 and the Angels started the season a franchise worse 6-14. The weight of the world was on Pujols, and the Angels were actually being booed by the normally laid back fans in Anaheim. The season that was supposed to be magical started off horrendous, but as soon as things looked beyond horrible, a call to the minor leagues changed everything.
Mike Trout was the jewel of the Angels minor league system ever since the day he was drafted. However, when the Angels made the organizational decision to cut future Hall of Fame player Bobby Abreu to make room on the roster for Trout, it was clear they needed him to grow up fast. As good as the Angels knew Trout was, nobody could have ever predicted the massive impact he would have on the team. With Trout in the lead-off spot, the Angels began getting on base, stealing bags and playing more loose. Pujols could stop worrying about hitting homers and instead focus on driving in Trout whether he be at first, second or third. Since the arrival of the rookie phenom the Angels have been one of the best teams in baseball.

Lakers Must Grab Howard
The NBA crown now resides in Miami and it looks like it could stay there for multiple years, judging by the stockpiles of talent taking up residence in South Beach. This is why the Los Angeles Lakers have no choice but to pull the trigger on a trade that would bring All-Star center Dwight Howard to Tinseltown.
The best of the Western Conference basically is the Oklahoma City Thunder followed by about six other teams that would be described as better than average. These better than average teams are squads such as the Mavericks, Grizzlies, Spurs, Clippers and Lakers. They are teams capable of making it to the second round of the playoffs, but simply do not have the talent to compete with the high-energy, balanced attack of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers realize this better than anyone because they were dominated in a second round series against the Kevin Durant led squad in the 2011-2012 playoffs. The Lakers have slowly gotten worse while the younger teams have gotten better, and that is why Lakers' management has no choice but to make a deal for Howard.

Looking Ahead To A Dream Matchup
The first round of the 2012 British Open being played at Royal Lytham & St. Annes did not disappoint. Phil Mickelson did his normal disappearing act at the Open, and world number one ranked Luke Donald also performed his vanishing act on golf's biggest stage. However, the first round storyline of the British Open wasn't about which players we're dwelling at the bottom of the leader board, but rather the sexy names near the top.
Graeme McDowell, Rory Mcllory, Ernie Els, Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods are all within striking distance of the leader Adam Scott. Some of golf's biggest names are playing well, giving all fans of the sport something to look forward to come this weekend. However, the matchup that the entire golf world would love to witness would be a final Sunday pairing between Adam Scott and Tiger Woods. The reason is tension. The possibility of fireworks. Not the tension between the two golfers, but between Woods and his ex-caddie Steve Williams.
After Woods was exposed for being a cheating scumbag, his entire career went to hell in a hand-basket. Maybe it was the complete shattering of his personal life and marriage, or possibly an abrupt end to the steady diet of sex with models and porn stars. Whatever the reason was, Woods lost his mojo on the golf course. Players no longer feared him, and he became irrelevant during the major tournaments he once owned. However, when the whole world turned away from Woods, one man stuck by his side. That man was a close friend and caddie named Steve Williams. The only problem was that during the reconstruction process of Woods' image the puppet masters pulling the iconic golfer's strings decided a split from Williams may be a good idea.
